Very pleased that my ‘Emergence’ EP has been released on Soul Shift Music, a very quick turnaround from getting it signed at the end of summer. Three slightly obscure tunes I guess but I’m really proud of them.
Also I was able to organise my own cover artwork, and very pleased that I was able to use a photo taken by my very good friend Peter Springett, who takes beautiful Instagram pictures like these: http://bit.ly/tx86Kf (follow peterspringett on Instagram for iPhone).

Please don’t be put off by the title, this blog is a collection of “notes and signs found around the DJ booth” and regularly makes me cringe and weep with laughter at the same time.
Feedback and requests from your audience are one of the great things about DJing, and developing the skill to deal with them well is a lifetime’s work. Playing a specific night is generally fine, since punters usually know what to expect, but when it’s a general ‘late night with DJ’ in any kind of venue it can get stressful and funny in equal measure. The pictures on this site reflect that perfectly.
My favourite request so far:
Punter: “What kind of music are you playing tonight?”
Me: “House music”
Punter: “Oh ok, so have you got any Arcade Fire?”

My debut EP is released on June 24th on Beatport exclusive by Look Ahead Records, featuring a great remix by Desos. The remix also got tracklisted by Mark Knight on his Toolroom Kinights radio show on June 13th!

Here’s a mix of some tracks I’ve been liking recently, a lot of which I played at the MUAK gig at the end of May … apart from the first one, of course :-)
Coltrane was a genuine musical genius who wrote simple, dramatic tunes like this one, and used them as a base from which to often explore the outer realms of harmony and rhythm. Far removed from deep house I guess … but it’s all music in the end.
Track list:
John Coltrane - Blue Train
Dom - Geneza
Mic Newman - The Casualty (Iron Curtis Mix)
Remote People - Greetings From Utah
Jesus Pablo - The Deep Track (Original Mix)
Atjazz - For Real Part 1 (Atjazz Remix)
PVL - Blue Track
Hall North feat. Firouzeh - No Way Out (Tony_S remix)
Charles Webster - Learning To Love Me (Original Mix)
Jay Tripwire - Do Me This Way (Pezzner Remix)
The Guzalos - Uno (Original Mix)
Aki Bergen - Don’t Forget The Drummer (Original Club Mix)
Jesus Pablo - Wuh Wah (Serge Carroll Remix)
